Summary

The LVMC provides specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion and large animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents and interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work in teams to provide 24-hour, state-of-the-art care to animal patients.

We are seeking a dedicated Manager of Customer Relations for a swing shift (1:00PM – 10:00PM) at the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center. This position is integral to maintaining the highest standards of service and staff management across the Small Animal and Large Animal hospitals. Responsibilities include supervising a team of veterinary teaching hospital assistants, managing timekeeping, performance evaluations, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

The role also involves maintaining strong communication between hospital staff, clients, and faculty, troubleshooting client issues, overseeing hospital scheduling, and ensuring that operational processes run smoothly. Additionally, the manager will provide training and development opportunities for staff and assist with hiring, scheduling, and HR-related tasks. Some weekend and night shifts are required to support the 24/7 hospital operations.

The successful candidate will be well rounded and possess multi-tasking skills to manage patients throughout the small and large animal hospital, demonstrate attention to detail, and have excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, referring veterinarians, faculty, house officers, and staff members.

Example of Duties- Maintains and builds customer relationships.- Handles highly sensitive or escalated issues.- Develops and implements customer relation expansion and retention strategies to drive sales, utilization, and service.- Ensures a positive customer experience.- Provides product and service information to customers.- Recommends and implements programs or services to meet customer needs.- Identifies opportunities for increased revenue.- Trains and develops staff, including coaching on customer relations.- Supervises customer relations staff, including recruiting, selecting, hiring, and evaluation.Level Guidelines- Aware of key annual objectives of department or work unit- Understands linkage between daily activities and achievement of annual objectives of department/work unit and explains to direct reports- Focus on ISU’s mission and meeting department or work unit goals- Supervises a small department or work team- Often is a working supervisor with direct, previous experience performing work of those supervised- Has full management responsibility for direct reports, specifically the authority to hire, fire, and counsel; may share part of responsibility with higher level management- Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope per policy
