Description We are inviting applications for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Ames, Iowa. This role is primarily focused on managing all accounting functions for a portfolio of multifamily rental properties. The job involves data analysis, cash position management, preparation of monthly financial statements, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities:
– Accurately record transactions in compliance with our requirements and applicable accounting principles.
– Oversee the cash position of the portfolio, including bill payments, bank reconciliations, and cash position analysis for each property.
– Independently prepare monthly financial statements for accurate reporting of each property’s financial position.
– Carry out various financial and accounting analyses.
– Execute administrative duties and other necessary tasks.
– Ensure efficient processing of customer credit applications.
– Maintain precise customer credit records.
– Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action.
– Use skills such as Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close, Property Accounting, and Financial Statement Preparation. Requirements – Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations
– Demonstrated ability to perform Bank Reconciliations
– Familiarity with General Ledger management
– Proven experience in preparing and posting Journal Entries
– Expertise in handling Month End Close procedures
– Knowledge of Property Accounting principles
– Capability to prepare Financial Statements
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
– Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
– Excellent communication and organizational skills
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
– Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
– Familiarity with accounting software and systems
– Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
– Experience in a similar role is preferred
– Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
