Preferred Qualifications:BLS certification
Experience in a clinical setting, particularly in managing patient records and supporting providers.

This full-time position offers a set weekday schedule (Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), so you can enjoy weekends, holidays, and on-call time off. As a Medical Assistant II at the Thielen Student Health Center, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the Iowa State student community. You’ll assist in both clinical and clerical duties to help create a seamless, welcoming experience for patients and contribute to a holistic approach to student health.
Key Responsibilities
+ Patient Flow and Support: Ensure smooth patient flow through the clinic by greeting and checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and collecting and verifying insurance information.
+ Clinical Assistance: Work alongside healthcare providers to support physical exams, record patient histories, and document medication records, allergies, and immunizations.
+ Medication Administration: Administer routine oral, rectal, or injectable medications within your certified scope, as well as conduct basic diagnostic tests (such as urinalysis, blood work, and electrocardiograms) and support other procedures.
+ Medical Records Management: Organize and manage medical records to ensure accurate, complete data is available for patient visits and appointments.
+ Customer Service: Serve as the first point of contact for patient inquiries, providing positive and clear communication to patients, families, and departments, along with relaying information as needed.
+ Insurance Coordination: Assist with insurance authorizations and eligibility checks to facilitate patient coverage for services.
