Background or experience with financial management and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Financial Management: Oversee budgeting and financial planning, including cash flow analysis, forecasting, and expenditure approvals.
+ Facility Scheduling: Manage scheduling of the laboratory facilities to ensure optimal utilization.
+ Procurement: Responsible for purchasing equipment and supplies necessary for the operation of the facility.
+ Merchandising: Oversee the merchandising of meat products.
+ Educational Activities: Facilitate teaching and extension activities within the Meat Laboratory.
+ Research: Support and manage research activities conducted in the facility.
+ Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
+ Safety and Security: Oversee the security and safety of facilities and equipment.
+ Personnel Supervision: Supervise staff, conduct annual evaluations, and make decisions on employment matters.
+ Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal government regulations, including USDA Food Safety and Inspection policies and regulations.

Level III Guidelines (PS809) : Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience
– Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals – Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude – Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action – Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices – Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff – May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team) – May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist – Provides guidance to students
Level IV Guidelines (PS811) : Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience – Expert-level position possessing advanced professional and/or technical skills working under limited or no supervision – Applies high-level professional knowledge and expertise to focus on ISU’s mission and meeting division, department or work unit goals – Solves complex issues using highly-developed problem resolution skills – Regularly provides recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices – Utilizes high-level professional knowledge and expertise to provide guidance, recommendations, and set standards related to strategy, policy, and mission – Leads projects of moderate to high scope and complexity with broad impact – May provide supervision to other department staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
