Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University seeks experienced professionals to teach one or more classes in our advertising, journalism, public relations and/or sports media programs starting in the 2025 spring semester. We are looking for candidates with professional experience in data-driven strategic communications and/or visual communication and design.

Initial term is one year beginning 1/1/2025. Renewal parameters are determined by performance and school need. The position is benefits-eligible based on the number of courses taught per academic year.

The adherence to programmatic goals and curriculum objectives is required, as the school is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC).

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field

+ Two years of professional experience related to data-driven strategic communications and/or visual communication and design in journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master’s degree in journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field

+ More than two years of professional experience related to data-driven strategic communications and/or visual communication and design in journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field beyond the required amount

+ Demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education or advising, mentoring or training experience in communication or related field

The Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication has a dynamic ACEJMC-accredited undergraduate program and a strong Master’s program.
