QUALIFICATIONS
· Initial or Professional Administrator License with Evaluator Training.
· Teaching experience or combination of administrative and teaching experience.
· Knowledge in K-12 curriculum writing and administrative planning.
· Knowledgeable and proficient in various form of technology.
REPORTS TO
Superintendent of Schools, Building Principals, and Board of Directors
SUPERVISES
Such staff members as the superintendent or building principals may designate
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develops, implements, and oversees the school district’s curriculum and instruction programs in accordance with district goals and objectives, as well as with applicable laws.
2. Attends board meetings when requested and prepares such reports for the board as the
superintendent may request.
3. Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the schools and make
appropriate recommendations. Work with all staff and serve students and parents
equitably, regardless of their race, national origin, gender identity, disability, age, color,
gender, creed, religion, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, physical attributes, physical
or mental ability, ancestry, political party preference, political beliefs, familial status or
socio-economic status.
4. Reports on the status of district academic activities and assessments, monitoring the
implementation of curriculum programs and assessments.
5. Assists in application and implementation of federal and state entitlement programs and
multi-cultural gender-fair plan development, implementation, and evaluation.
6. Will articulate the curriculum between grades and buildings within the district.
7. Communicates to the superintendent and principals the requirements and curriculum needs of the district as perceived by staff members.
8. Keeps district staff informed of changes in laws or regulations in areas of responsibility. Prepares state reports as assigned and needed.
9. Plays a significant leadership role in fostering professional growth and building staff morale throughout the district and provides feedback to administrators.
10. Facilitates School Improvement Advisory Committee Meetings (SIAC).
11. Plans and facilitates the district’s professional development for the instructional staff.
12. Assumes a leadership role in developing curriculum and assessments for any course newly mandated by the legislature or the board.
13.. Interprets the present curriculum and proposed curriculum changes to the board, the
administration, the staff, and the general public.
14. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to
time be assigned by the superintendent.
15. Assist the superintendent in coordination and compliance of the newly passed Iowa
standards and regulations.
16. Plan and facilitate district-wide mentoring induction program.
17. Facilitate curriculum review cycles and implementation checks.
18. Assists in the recruitment and selection of certified personnel.
19. Interprets, evaluates, and analyzes student data assessment and program evaluation results for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement.
20. Plans, compiles, and manages the local curriculum budget for the district.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Contract of 230 days. Salary and benefits to be determined annually upon hire.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated yearly.
