Ames CSD is seeking Equity Core Team Teacher Leaders for the 2023-2024 school year at Ames Middle School. This is an extended teacher contract to include the equivalent of two contract days spread out over monthly evening meetings (16 hours of meetings over 8 months). This stipend will be $1,000.

SummaryProvide leadership and learning experiences for the building equity team in the building and works with the district equity core team members to align the vision and implementation of the Ames CSD educational equity plan in the building.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

+ Leads the building level equity team in coordination with the building principal.

+ Attends district meetings with the equity coordinator to drive the district’s equity work forward.

+ Hosts classroom visitors to model best practices in culturally responsive instructional practices.

+ Delivers professional learning for peers around equity topics as directed by the building principal and the equity coordinator.

+ Works with a teacher leader (instructional coach, coordinator) beyond minimum expectations.

+ Ability to maintain a PK-12 perspective; systems thinker.

+ Committed to professional growth of self and others.

Qualifications:

+ A valid Iowa teaching certificate; at least two years of teaching experience in Ames and a minimum of three years in the profession.

The successful candidate will exhibit:

+ Continuous professional growth including implementation of District initiatives and active participation in District professional development.

+ Evidence of leadership roles at the building or District level, including current participation in the building equity team

+ Evidence of previous engagement in learning around equity, (such as critical consciousness, culturally responsive teaching practices, restorative justice)

+ Collaboration with PLC and teacher leaders, e.g., Instructional Coaches and Coordinators.

+ Strong recommendation provided from evaluator.

+ Evidence of strong respect and support of peers.

+ High standards of ethical conduct, confidentiality, honesty, integrity, and a commitment to quality service to student and teamwork.

+ High level of initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to District initiatives.

+ Attendance patterns would suggest that additional days out of the classroom for professional development or collaboration would not cause hardships for students or District.
