Join us at Ames CSD, where your talents are recognized, and you have the opportunity to grow in a supportive and dynamic community.The Ames Home School Assistance Program is seeking a .50 FTE Teacher for the 2025-26 school year.SummaryResponsibilities include overseeing parents and students served by the HSAP through personal visits and other correspondence, teaching enrichment courses provided for the students to help enhance home learning and tasks that contribute to the effectiveness of the program. The HSAP Supervising Teacher is responsible for understanding the policies and procedures of the Ames HSAP and the Ames Community School District. OverviewProvide supervision to 10-13 families and teach appropriate enrichment courses. Supervision of families includes visits with families who may have multiple children. During the visits the supervising teacher assesses the education levels of the children in the home to assure they are on the correct learning path by making adequate progress as defined by Iowa Code. Enrichment classes used to complement the students’ homeschooling curriculum include but are not limited to math, science, technology, social sciences, language arts, writing, critical thinking, movement, drama, and music.Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

+ Corresponds with each family assigned to this position a minimum of 16 times per school year.

+ Monitors the progress of each student assigned to this position throughout the school year.

+ Assists families in finding resources.

+ Encourages developmentally appropriate curriculum.

+ Collects, analyzes, and records information.

+ Teaches enrichment courses designed for expanded learning.

+ Attends monthly staff meetings.

+ Collaborates with other HSAP teachers.

+ Maintains professional and positive relationships with parents, students and HSAP teachers

+ Assists with HSAP activities (i.e. administer standardized tests, help with field trips, provides support to various HSAP-sponsored events).

+ Submits and completes an annual Career Professional Development Plan.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Education

+ Valid Iowa Teaching License

+ HSAP experience required

+ Frequent walking, sitting, and standing.

+ Occasional bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting/carrying of tables and chairs.

+ Ability to create a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students, families, and staff.

+ Consistent and punctual attendance.
