**Basic Purpose**

The Laboratory Technician performs routine scientific and laboratory duties under supervision. This role assists in conducting experiments, follows applicable safety and regulatory protocols, and operates primarily in a laboratory environment.

**Located in Ames, IA**

**1st shift**

**1 year contract**

**Pay: $24-27/hour**

**Primary Responsibilities**

+ Perform standard laboratory procedures efficiently and under supervision

+ Operate, maintain, and be responsible for lab equipment

+ Assist in the execution of routine experiments and assays, including but not limited to:

+ Basic bacterial culture

+ ELISA

+ Luminex

+ PCR

+ Apply basic scientific principles with guidance

+ Maintain detailed and accurate records in compliance with SOPs and internal policies

+ Handle and report data with integrity and in accordance with ethical standards

+ Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific discipline **or** equivalent experience in a related field

**Preferred Skills**

+ Previous scientific or laboratory experience is preferred

+ Familiarity with general lab practices and equipment
