Position Title:Lecturer of Comparative Chordate Anatomy

Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology (EEOB) at Iowa State University (ISU) seeks applications for a Lecturer of Comparative Chordate Anatomy for the spring 2025 semester. This is a part-time position expected to work 18 hours per week (.45 FTE). Duties will consist primarily of setting up labs and teaching two lab sections, as well as assisting the lead instructor as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
+ M.S. in Biology or closely related field
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Proven experience setting up and teaching chordate anatomy labs, including preparation and dissection of the following specimens: shark, salamander, pigeon, rabbit, sheep brain, cow eye.
+ Broad understanding of the evolution of chordate anatomy, including taxonomic and phylogenetic knowledge of the various species and the form and function of their anatomical structures.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
Department/Program & College Description:
The Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology is a collaborative and collegial community of about 70 faculty, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and staff addressing a wide range of research questions using multiple approaches that bridge traditional scientific disciplines and span levels of biological organization. EEOB is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). The department administers undergraduate programs in Biology, Environmental Science, and Genetics, and our faculty participate actively in multiple interdepartmental graduate programs, including Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Environmental Science, Genetics and Genomics, and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
