If so, Logistics and Support Services at Iowa State University is seeking a Logistics Specialist II to join the ISU Surplus operation! ISU Surplus handles the management of the university’s end-of-life assets through resale, repurposing, or recycling/disposal. In addition to operating a physical store, ISU Surplus sells items on online platforms, including Govdeals.com.

Key responsibilities for this role include overseeing the intake of Excess Property Disposal requests from campus units and leading the team that performs the pickup of those assets from campus. This position will also be involved with ensuring inventory is tracked accurately and is organized in warehouse locations.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of dispatching and scheduling, good computer skills, good written and verbal communication, and organizational abilities. Good customer service skills are also essential to this role. Knowledge and familiarity of Iowa State’s campus layout and buildings is recommended.

Example of Duties

+ Responsible for processing Excess Property Disposal forms that are submitted by campus units to ISU Surplus.

+ Coordinates with Surplus Manager to process trackable assets and the need for further communication from campus partners like Sponsored Programs, Export Control, and EH&S on the ability to fulfill the pickup request.

+ Leads the team that performs the pickup of assets that are submitted on the Excess Property Disposal forms. Will perform pickups alongside MVO staff frequently.

+ Assists in the decision-making process for assets on potential to sell or need for disposal following University, State, and Federal guidelines.

+ Tracks inventory and organizes assets in warehouse locations

+ Works with E-commerce and Logistics Coordinators to stage products for sales floor or online platforms.

+ Provides functional supervision to MVO staff.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
