**Middle School Head Baseball Coach**
Ogden CSD is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Baseball Coach to lead and develop our baseball program for the upcoming summer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sport, the ability to teach fundamental skills, and a commitment to fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among middle school student-athletes. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with coaching experience or a passion for mentoring young athletes.
### **Key Responsibilities:**
– **Coaching and Instruction**:
– Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices focused on skill development and team strategies.
– Teach players the fundamentals of baseball, including hitting, fielding, pitching, base running, and game situations.
– Prepare athletes for competition through appropriate drills, exercises, and knowledge of the game.
– **Team Leadership and Development**:
– Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment that fosters personal growth and teamwork.
– Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to athletes at all skill levels.
– Monitor the physical and mental well-being of athletes, providing guidance and support as needed.
– **Game Preparation and Strategy**:
– Develop game strategies and align practice sessions with competition needs.
– Coordinate and manage game-day logistics, including player rotations, team alignments, and substitutions.
– Ensure athletes are prepared for competition through proper warm-ups, mental readiness, and team cohesion.
– **Communication and Collaboration**:
– Maintain open and regular communication with student-athletes, parents, and the athletic director regarding team progress, schedules, and expectations.
– Work with other coaches, school staff, and administrators to ensure the baseball program is aligned with school policies and values.
– **Administrative Duties**:
– Assist with scheduling practices and games, ensuring compliance with league or district regulations.
– Help track player attendance and ensure proper documentation is maintained (e.g., medical forms, permissions, and other required paperwork).
– **Team Management**:
– Promote sportsmanship, respect, and integrity both on and off the field.
– Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team events, ensuring their safety at all times.
– Foster relationships with athletes and encourage the development of leadership skills both in sports and in the classroom.
### **Qualifications**:
– Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
– Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, techniques, and rules.
– Ability to communicate effectively with middle school students, parents, and colleagues.
– Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
– A commitment to creating an environment that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
– Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings and afternoons for practices and games.
