The Production Engineer is an entry level engineer and manufacturing position within the Technology and Production Team and should be capable of performing all production and utilities. This role creates value through continuous improvement efforts, increasing reliability, minimizing waste, and compliance with FDA, OSHA, and production responsibilities (unassisted after training) according to the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the three production lines: glycerin refining, specialty vegetable oil refining and continuous vegetable oil refining. Production Engineer individuals will develop a working understanding of the process and be focused on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate safely and appropriately in all AgCertain situations and environments
- Ability to demonstrate a basic and continuously increasing understanding of the Glycerin, or Vegetable Oil, and Utility systems
- Have a thorough understanding of and be able to apply Good Manufacturing Practices and understand how they affect maintenance and production
- Have a thorough understanding of and be able to apply Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to engineering projects and production sites
- Perform duties in accordance with SOP’s, Food Safety, and GMP compliance
- Assist with writing and revising controlled documents such as SOP’s, MOC’s and all engineering documents
- Apply process and equipment knowledge to troubleshoot deficiencies, reduce waste, improve production efficiency and improve product quality
- Be an active member in the OSHA Safety and Food Safety programs
- Participate in all company trainings
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Ag Systems Technology, or relevant field
- Physical abilities to include the ability to lift 50 lbs (23 Kg), able to climb stairs, and not afraid of heights
- Interest/experience in food processing plant, biodiesel, ethanol, or manufacturing facility is preferred
- Must have operating knowledge and mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining pumps, motos, values, heat exchangers, heaters, and other processing or utility equipment
- Must be available to assist in troubleshooting problems and making emergency repairs as needed (including weekends and/or nights)
- Act with humility, honesty, integrity, and a commitment to safety
- Abide by Good Manufacturing Practices in all areas of the facility
