SUMMARY: In this highly visible position the Senior Accountant will provide financial support to our accounting and finance team. Specific duties include budgeting, monitoring of actuals to forecast, and monthly close. The position will impact strategic decision-making based upon timely and accurate analysis of consolidation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reporting
- Responsible for the management of daily accounting functions and financial reporting in compliance with generally acceptable accounting principles (GAAP)
- Manage the monthly closing function including timely preparation and distribution of the monthly financial statements
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements; prepare and review consolidations including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow for all reporting periods
- Own lease accounting under ASC 842 including system administration of Lease Query
- Track capital expenditures and commitments to provide a monthly status update on each CER
- Develop reporting for business partners and support internal customers in understanding the financial facts behind business decisions
- Own and develop monthly reporting to senior leadership
- Establish and maintain cycle counting procedures, including follow up on discrepancies
- Lead quarterly inventory review with management
- Prepare and/or review weekly and monthly reports (inventory, backlog, bookings, anticipated sales, working capital)
Budget and Forecasting
- Assist with budget and forecasting activities and timeline for corporate and COEs
- Prepare the corporate division budget and forecast, which includes analysis of historical trends and estimates
- Own variances to budget and report out variances to senior leadership
- Partner with business functions to accurately budget and forecast by business function
Audit
- Lead and prepare the year-end financial statement audit including coordination with external auditors and other COEs
- Coordinate activities in preparation for other periodic audits and reports such as the Flexible Packaging Association and US Census Bureau
- Prepare and coordinate the Pension and 401k Audits
Finance IT Applications
- Own and coordinate with Harris and Radius IT support to add new General Ledger accounts as needed and update financial reporting templates and retrievals
- Support ERP and bolt on financial product implementations; lead cross functional teams as required
Cash/Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable
- Reconciliation of payroll accounts
- Corporate credit card management
- Own daily cash balances, approval of ACHs/Wires, and monthly cash projection consolidation
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams as needed, including processing invoices, check run and supplier finance administration

- Competent PC skills, including Microsoft Office Suite with prior experience in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred
- High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information
- ERP knowledge a plus
- Comfortable working in Excel with large sets of data
- Preference for prior experience in finance/accounting function
- Understanding of GAAP
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline; 3+ years of experience in a finance/accounting role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Basic understanding of finance and accounting.
