Summary
The Information Technology Services department at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Software Developer I or II.
Entry-level position processing programming skills to design, analyze, develop, implement, and maintain software applications working under direct supervision of team leader or more senior team members to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals.
Designs, analyzes, develops, implements, and maintains simple and moderately complex applications. Consults and advises clients on application development projects of a small to mid-size.

High school diploma or equivalent
Software Developer II
High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience
Example of Duties
– Works on assignments that are generally of a basic technical nature.
– Assists with the development of detailed systems design specifications to meet defined requirements.
– Assists with the design, development, coding, and testing of new software services, databases, and application systems.
– Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translating requirements into report specifications.
– Create, modify, and maintain custom reports using reporting tools, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and relevance to stakeholders’ needs.
– Conduct testing and validation to ensure reports meet quality standards and fulfill reporting requirements.
– Provide end-user support, training, and troubleshooting for report-related issues and guide users on report interpretation.
– Analyze and refine report structures to improve load times, responsiveness, and efficiency.

– Individual contributor position with developing professional and/or technical skills working under immediate to general supervision
– Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode
– Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope
– Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained
– Responds to inquiries and issues, escalating to manager or higher level workers as appropriate
– May lead projects of limited scope and complexity
