Staff Accountant must compute, classify, and calculate the fundamental aspects of AgCertain Industries, Inc, and its subsidiaries, as assigned. This includes recording financial transactions, managing of accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and posting transactions.
Additional activities include collaborating with team members and supporting desired culture. AgCertain is an entrepreneurial company with a growing portfolio, and as such, the team adapts, learns, and adjusts as required. This role is based in Ames, Iowa. This role provides a platform for career growth through individual initiative, team collaboration and executive interaction.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate safety and appropriately in all AgCertain situations and environments
- Preparing and posting transactions following the Corporate Chart of Accounts
- Preparing financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Perform detailed research/adjustment functions
- Maintain and balance general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries, prepare trial balance and reconciling errors
- Receive and enter Vendor bills
- Prepare and send Customer invoices
- Assist with preparation of profit and loss statement and balance sheet monthly
- Assist with 1099’s and assist in payroll functions as needed
- Assist in monthly inventory reconciliation and periodically validate plant inventory
- Assist with budget and tax preparation
- Comply with federal, state, and local SAFS Rules (Statement of Financial Accounting Standards) by studying and enforcing adherence to policies and procedures, filing reports and advising management on needed action
- Preparation of additional analysis reports, as assigned
- Participate in all company trainings
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- Minimum of two years manufacturing industry experience or related experienced preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks and/or similar technology
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate internally and externally with customers and vendors
- High level of professionalism and customer support skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and following accepted accounting practices
- Ability to work on multiple time sensitive tasks concurrently
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong data analysis and data visualization
- Willingness to learn and understand AgCertain (technologies, processes, capabilities, and departments)
- Physical abilities to include the ability to lift 50 lbs (23 Kg)
