Reporting relationships: Reports to the Story County Fair Board, President is direct contact
Summary/Objective
Manages the marketing, rentals, janitorial and basic up keep of the primary public rental buildings on the Story County Fairgrounds. This position is considered part-time and will be compensated on a commission based on total rental revenues with janitorial tasks paid on an hourly basis.
Essential Functions
- Marketing
- Maintain all marketing related to facility rentals including brochures, web site info, Facebook and other social media. Social Media campaigns and website updates should be collaborated on with the Story Fair Manager
- Promote the facilities and marketing campaigns to generate rentals
- Develop a renter feedback and review mechanism to benchmark satisfaction
- Host any types of open houses or attend/exhibit at other events needed to generate rentals
- Rentals
- Respond to renters’ interests in Community Building/Christy Hall
- Show building/Open houses
- Provide contract and rules to renters
- Respond to renters’ interests in Community Building/Christy Hall
- Keep calendar up to date
- Work to promote buildings
- Refer any potential fairgrounds rentals to the Story County Fair Manager
- Communicate with Renters
- Make sure payments have been made
- Meet them to give keys and final instructions
- Janitorial
- Clean building after rentals. ( Cleaning hours to be submitted and payment issued on a monthly basis)
- Bathrooms
- Floors

- Keep supplies filled and ordered when needed
- Manage heating and cooling schedules to optimize comfort and overall utility costs

- Coordinate Snow removal as needed based on scheduled events with Story County Fair approved vendor
- Coordinate Mowing and grounds upkeep needs with the Story County Fair Manager

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands/finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to operate equipment needed to complete tasks.
The Rental Coordinator is to maintain flexible working hours making an attempt to best accommodate renters. (Potential Days / Evenings / Weekends)
Bonus and Reviews
The Rental Coordinator will have a review completed by the Story County Fair Association Board after the first 4 months of employment and then annually. The yearly performance bonus payout will be paid out in the paid period immediately following the review. Commissions will be paid quarterly. The Rental Coordinator will work with the Story County Fair Association Board to set goals and metrics for the next fiscal year.
Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Story County Fair and Fairgrounds
Associate’s Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree is highly recommended
Three to five years previous experience preferred in event management or event venue rentals.
