Job Description:
Are you ready to make a lasting impact on student engagement? Join the Memorial Union (MU) and Student Engagement Team at Iowa State University, home to 800 student organizations. As a Student Services Specialist II, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting students through a range of essential services. You’ll deliver training and guidance for student organization events, while advising on policies and referring students to appropriate resources. Your responsibilities also include overseeing student organization systems, advising the Campus Service Council and other student leaders, and developing opportunities that inspire and empower.
In this dynamic position, you will manage the Student Organization Event Authorization system, processing approximately 3,000 event requests annually. Your role involves training student leaders, maintaining relationships with campus partners, and chairing the Event Authorization Committee. Additionally, you’ll oversee the Student Organization Marketplace, coordinate major events like ClubFests and Volunteer Fairs, and supervise graduate student staff to support various service programs both within the Memorial Union and service trips across the country. Essential to this position is a depth of knowledge typically gained through advanced work in student affairs, ensuring that you are equipped to provide the highest level of guidance and leadership.
