Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
+ Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
+ Establishes rapport and remains focused on student needs to maximize learning.
+ Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
+ Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
+ Maintains a professional appearance as example to students.
+ Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed or listed in assigned position.
+ Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
+ Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourages self-discipline and responsibility.
+ Creates a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
+ Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
+ Onsite work required.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Possess a valid Iowa Substitute License, Substitute Authorization, or Iowa Teaching License.
+ Must be adaptable, collaborative, and an effective problem-solver.
+ Must complete the following trainings prior to starting as a substitute teacher: Mandatory Reporter, Bloodborne Pathogens, Seclusion and Restraint: Chapter 103. (Ames CSD will provide training instructions upon successful completion of background check.)
