Job Description
The Iowa DOT’s District 1 Right of Way team is looking for a student to assist the field survey team performing boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. We are seeking a student with aspirations of a career in surveying for civil transportation projects and willing to help you get a head start on that career.
You will be working with R.T.K. G.P.S. and a robotic total station equipment for field data collection as well as having exposure to Microstation SS10 and Bentley Open Roads CADD operation. Researching for survey related documentation, including U.S.P.L.S. Corner Certificates, Deeds, Plats of Survey, Subdivision Plats, and highway plans, from various agencies, may be included.
Other opportunities include working with the Assistant District 1 Engineer and Design Team in the design and preparation of MP and 3R project plans for letting; preparing concept statements, participating in field exams/reviews, and reviewing highway construction projects in the field.
Duration: May-December; 40 hours/week
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Requirements: Completion of at least two years in engineering at an accredited four-year college or university with eligibility for junior status upon return to school.
