Volunteer High School Soccer Coach – Job Description
Position: Volunteer High School Soccer CoachLocation: Boone High SchoolReports to: Athletic Director/Head CoachCommitment: Flexible
Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Volunteer High School Soccer Coach to join our coaching staff. Head Coach Johnston and Assistant Coach Hicks both bring a vast amount of experience to coaching and organizational management.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game of soccer, the ability to teach skills, strategies, and sportsmanship, and a desire to help young athletes grow both on and off the field. As a volunteer coach, you will assist in providing a positive and safe environment for student-athletes while fostering a love for the game.
Responsibilities:
+ Assist the head coach in planning, organizing, and executing practices and training sessions.
+ Provide individual and team instruction to improve players’ skills, technique, and understanding of the game.
+ Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
+ Attend all practices, games, and team events as scheduled.
+ Support game day operations, including setting up equipment, managing substitutions, and providing in-game coaching.
+ Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
+ Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and other coaching staff.
+ Adhere to school policies, rules, and regulations as well as league and state athletic association guidelines.
+ Serve as a role model for student-athletes in behavior, attitude, and sportsmanship.
Qualifications:
+ Previous coaching experience or strong knowledge of soccer (experience working with high school athletes is a plus).
+ Ability to demonstrate and teach soccer skills and strategies.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Patience, positivity, and the ability to work well with teenagers.
+ Ability to commit to the team’s schedule, including practices, games, and tournaments.
+ Understanding of and commitment to upholding safety standards in a sports environment.
+ Ability to pass a background check, in accordance with school policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Must possess a coaching authorization prior to volunteer coaching.
+ Previous experience as a player or coach at the high school or collegiate level.
+ Must complete Boone Community Schools Volunteer Form on the website and pass a background check.
+ Must complete an interview with the Activities Director
